Annual Report 2025
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association
Service Editorial/Publication, Brand Design
Year 2026
Created with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
As the Graphic Designer on the project, I worked directly with the Communications Manager, COO, and CEO to help draft, develop, and finalize the annual report from concept to completion.
My responsibilities included:
-
Establishing the visual direction of the report
-
Adapting quickly to HCMA’s brand and communication style
-
Collaborating with multiple departments to collect content and assets
-
Organizing large amounts of information into a digestible layout
-
Designing page systems and visual hierarchy for readability
-
Creating a more editorial and engaging experience through layout, imagery, and pacing
-
Refining the overall presentation to feel polished, modern, and mission-driven
Below is the previous report I referenced.
To shift the report away from the previous year’s dense and text-heavy approach, I focused on creating a cleaner editorial structure that balanced storytelling with data.
The design approach emphasized:
-
Strong visual hierarchy
-
Increased use of photography and white space
-
More intentional pacing between sections
-
Highlighted patient stories and organizational milestones
-
Magazine-inspired layouts that felt approachable and engaging
-
Consistent branding and typography throughout the report
I also worked closely with departments across the organization to ensure the report represented HCMA as a whole, not just through statistics, but through the people, services, and impact behind the work.
The final annual report transformed HCMA’s previous text-heavy format into a more refined and engaging publication that better reflected the organization’s identity and accomplishments. Despite being new to the company, I quickly adapted to the brand, collaborated across departments, and contributed to a high-visibility project that combined strategic communication with a more polished and editorial-driven design approach.
